At The Castle Inn, we are here to assist you in celebrating the life of a loved one with our wake services.
We appreciate what a difficult time this can be, so we aim to make the wake organisation and experience seamless and easy.
We offer various food options, all of which are accompanied by tea and coffee (free for two hours) and, of course, full access to our bar.
Please talk to us about your needs. We are flexible and can accommodate particular tastes and dietary requirements.
You are welcome to place money behind the bar for either the first drink or the entire wake. If you wish to do so, please let us know a few days before the wake, as your guests will usually arrive before you do.
At the end of the wake, you are more than welcome to take away any remaining food. We suggest you either bring your boxes, or we can provide takeaway boxes (separate cost of £1 a box).
If you would like to host your wake outside of our usual opening times, we are more than happy to discuss this (please note that for wakes held outside of our usual opening times, we cater for a minimum of 40 people).
We can provide
- Access to full bar, no matter the time of day
- Various options of chef prepared catering, including savoury and sweet options
- Private and exclusive use of our Courtyard (with a stage for placing easels memory boards, and your funeral flowers) or Rose Room or on the days we are closed, you have the options of the main bar and restaurant area
- Projector to use for slideshows (bring in your laptop with an HMDI port)
- A link for you to play your own music
- Dedicated staff on hand to assist.
Our buffet can include freshly made sandwiches, handmade sausage rolls and pastries, and of course, our wood-fired pizzas and garlic bread, which we cook as you arrive.
Should you choose to consider us as a venue for a loved one’s wake, we would be happy to talk you through our list of services to best accommodate your guests.
Please note we only hold one wake per day; this offers exclusivity to you, your family and friends.
You can also spend the rest of the evening with us if you choose (on the days we are open).
